Lead Yourself by Example
Everyone is special and unique in their own way, but how can you go about showing it? When trying to build an image for your business it can be difficult to concisely define yourself.
In most business classes, you’d learn about the ‘elevator pitch.’ To clearly convey what/who you are to potential customers, clients, partners or investors is where some people can end up getting stuck.
A simplistic solution is: don’t try so hard to define yourself! A great way to build your image is through action. Of course it’s important to have a plan and follow it, but rather than trying to describe what you’re going to do, just do it.
As you ‘do it,’ you’ll see your image start to build itself.
As you ‘do it,’ you’ll see your image start to build itself. If you allow your definition to grow alongside your business, the image will soon become more clear and easily definable.
A company like Auxesys, which is so multi-faceted, is one of those companies that is difficult to define in one or two sentences. CEO and founder of Auxesys, John Swystun, has said that noticing competitors helped define what Auxesys is not. Rather than struggling to define how Auxesys is unique, John strived to act it out and create an entity unlike almost anything else in its space. He defined what Auxesys does by creating examples of what it does.
Maybe you’re a pet sitter with a niche knack for care of salamanders. Either way, the best way to show the world what you’ve got is to do just that: show them.
As so many of my writing teachers have told me – it’s much more effective to show rather than to just tell. Maybe your services are so varied that it’s near-impossible to explain what it is that you do. Maybe you’re a pet sitter with a niche knack for care of salamanders. Either way, the best way to show the world what you’ve got is to do just that: show them.
